1. Restrictions and Limitations
Please note:
· Version 7.0 no longer supports NetBIOS network communication. You must convert your network to TCP/IP in your existing version before installing version 7.0. For details refer to the Migration section of the Installation and Configuration Guide.
· This release does not support dbfs where the field specifications have been changed from the default.
2. What's New?
Vijeo Citect version 7.0 incorporates the following new features:
· The Migration Tool – a tool to assist in migrating version 6.1 projects to version 7.
· Clustering – allows you to group different sets of the runtime components within a single project, allowing multiple independent systems to be monitored and controlled
· Local Variables – replace memory PLC tags and allow you to store data in memory when you start your runtime system.
· Memory Mode – new mode to replace Memory I/O Devices. A memory mode device retains values in memory.
· Client-side Online Changes – The following live changes can now be made to the project without restarting clients:
o IO Devices (restart the IO server)
o Tags (restart the IO server)
o Alarms (restart the Alarm server)
o Trends (restart the Trend server)
o Reports (restart the Report server)
o Accumulators (restart the Report server)
Clients only require that graphics, code and communications configurations are deployed to them. Other configuration information is deployed to the appropriate server.
Project changes are still deployed as before
o manually
o Run/Backup Run/Copy
o FTP (IDC)
o HTTP (Web Client)
· Publisher-Subscriber Data Acquisition Model – clients now subscribe to tags and receive notifications when values change. This enables event driven functionality rather than the need for constant polling.
· Dual Network Support – Network redundancy can be implemented now by specifying multiple IP addresses for each server.
· Project-Based Network Configuration – Network topology and configuration is now defined in the project rather than in the Citect.ini configuration file.
· Speedlink – Provides the ability to generate and link Vijeo Citect alarm, trend, memory mode tags, accumulator and associated tags from external I/O device databases.
· Web Gate ActiveX Control – The Vijeo Web Gate Control object provides a remote viewer for an HMI target that can be embedded within a Vijeo Citect graphics page. The control requires Vijeo Designer 4.5.1 or higher, and supports all panels that are supported by Vijeo Designer, except for the XBTG series panels.
· Additional Schneider Symbol Libraries – The symbol libraries have been expanded to provide a new types of symbols and to provide a greater range of existing symbol types.
· New High Availability HMI page in the CSV_Example project – This new page demonstrates how a Vijeo Citect system maintains operation under different types of system failure.
· New version OFS – The version of OPC Factory Server installed with Vijeo Citect has been upgraded to V3.31.
For further information about new features, see the online help.
3. Requirements
2.1 Licensing
You must upgrade your current Vijeo Citect Software Protection Key in order to run V7.0. A separate authorization code is now required for CitectSCADA and Vijeo Citect. To update your key please contact your local Schneider support office.
2.2 Software
Version 7.0 has been tested to run on Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2003 64bit with Service Pack 1 or later.
Notes:
· You must use Internet Explorer version 6.0 or above if using the Process Analyst, Vijeo Citect Web Client, or Vijeo Citect Web Server.
· If you intend to use the Web Client on Windows 2003 Server, you must first install the latest Windows Installer module on your machine. This is available via the Windows Update feature in Windows 2003 Server.
· Vijeo Citect version 7.0 no longer supports Microsoft Windows NT or Windows 2000; in addition, Vijeo Citect should not be used in 256-color mode.
2.3 Minimum and recommended hardware and software:
Refer to the Vijeo Citect Installation and Configuration Guide provided on the CD for this detailed information.
Note: If you are using the Process Analyst, we recommend that you use a graphics card with at least 64MB of VRAM and do not share VRAM with main memory.
4. Installation Notes
In this release of Vijeo Citect an Installation and Configuration Guide in PDF format is included with the documentation on the distribution disk. It is important that you read this document carefully prior to performing the installation to ensure a satisfactory installation of the software.
When you insert the distribution disk in your drive and you have autostart enabled, Vijeo Citect Setup starts up automatically to guide you with your installation choices. An alternative way to start Vijeo Citect Setup is to double-click the setup.exe file that appears in the root directory of the distribution disk. We recommend that you use the Vijeo Citect Setup utility to install our products as installing the individual product setups separately is not optimal.
Important: Before installing this release of Vijeo Citect version 7.0, you must perform a full uninstall of any previous builds of Vijeo Citect version 7.0. To do this, open the Windows Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs, select Vijeo Citect from the list of installed software, and then click Remove. Any existing Example and CSV_Example projects will be backed up during installation prior to installing the latest versions.
You must also manually uninstall any preliminary releases of Microsoft’s .NET Framework v2 (e.g. beta releases or release candidates). Only the final release of .NET Framework v2 (v2.0.50727.42) should be present, however other final releases of .NET Framework (eg. v1) can co-exist.
Notes:
· To make installation easier, you can upload the contents of the Vijeo Citect Installation CD to your network and install from the network, rather than install Vijeo Citect individually on each workstation from the installation CD.
· If when installing Vijeo Citect you get the message 1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime, this indicates the Windows installer service has fallen into an illegal state. You must reregister the Windows installer service by executing the following commands at the command prompt:
o C:\>msiexec.exe /unregister
o C:\>msiexec.exe /regserver
The latest versions of all drivers are included in this release.
5. Upgrading
There have been significant structural changes to Vijeo Citect in version 7.0. There are two stages to upgrading to the new version, upgrading the software and upgrading your projects. Before upgrading your software, read through the Installation and Configuration Guide supplied on the product CD Before upgrading your projects it is important that you read and understand the What’s New and Upgrading sections of the online help or the Vijeo Citect User Guide.
Most elements of your project can be migrated by the Migration Tool. However, you may need to do some preliminary work to make sure your project is migrated correctly. See the Upgrading section of the online help or the User Guide for more information.
6. Operational Notes
Please note the following:
Multi-CPU Support
Note: In demonstration mode networking is disabled without a key. If you have an HMI license, you cannot run networked. In both these cases, Vijeo Citect will run as a single process on a single CPU, even on a multiprocessor environment.
If you do not have a network-enabled Vijeo Citect license (for example, if you are running in demo mode or are running Vijeo Lite), you cannot configure version 7.0 to run in multiple processes.
Multiprocessor Support and the Restart Facility
The existing restart facility in Vijeo Citect has limitations that may cause unpredictable results in your projects depending on the type of project changes you make. It may be more appropriate to stop and restart the individual components of your system by using the Runtime Manager instead of using the existing restart facility.
Windows Firewall
During Vijeo Citect installation, if you are running Windows XP SP2 and have the Windows Firewall enabled, you are given the option of allowing the Vijeo Citect Setup to modify your firewall settings by adding Vijeo Citect Runtime and FTP Server to the Windows Firewall’s list of authorized programs. If the Windows Firewall is not enabled, this dialog is not displayed.
Accessing Unity Pro from Speedlink via DCOM
In order for a Speedlink client to access Unity Pro remotely using DCOM you will need to install the Unity Pro client on your Vijeo Citect PC manually. To do this, certain Unity Pro type libraries must be copied from the Unity Pro server onto the client where Vijeo Citect is installed and then registered. See the Unity Pro documentation for more information.
1. Create a directory on your client machine called C:\Program Files\Common Files\Schneider Electric Shared\TLB.
2. Copy and paste the following .tlb files from the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Schneider Electric Shared\TLB directory on the server machine to your client:
LibsetServer.tlb, MacroFunction.tlb, PSBroker.tlb, PServer.tlb, PSExe.tlb, PSNotify.tlb, SecurityServer.tlb.
3. Register the libraries on the client.
a. Open a command prompt and navigate to the location of the regtlib.exe file on your client.
b. Enter the following command for each of the .tlb libraries:
regtlib "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Schneider Electric Shared\TLB\libraryName.tlb"
Using Vijeo Citect on a notebook PC
The Sentinel software protection software installed with Vijeo Citect may cause some notebook computers to occasionally reboot. The problem appears to be related to the notebook computer being docked and undocked from a docking station.
If a notebook exhibits this problem then a utility called SleepMon can be download from SafeNet’s website (http://c3.safenet-inc.com/downloads/7/3/73FDA928-81E3-44AA-BFCD-27C7DE20A200/SleepMon.zip).
You may want to add this application in your system startup programs to avoid this problem during system stand-by/suspend modes. Otherwise the application will not start after subsequent shutdowns.
Note that Vijeo Citect is not supported in a production environment when used on notebook computers.
7. Known Issues with this Release
The following are known problems which are not yet fixed in this release.
30078 - When Vijeo Citect is configured to use multiprocessor support, not all processes come online at the same time, which may result in alarms being generated. For example, if the client server comes online before the I/O server, an alarm will be generated. This alarm is dismissed when the I/O server (or other required server) comes online during startup.
30504 - Vijeo Citect OPC does not return data when used with Microsoft Access.
36077 - This version of Vijeo Citect does not support Speedlink accessing a remote Unity Pro server via DCOM when running on 64bit Windows XP
